For Freshmen, Young Adults & High School Students


West offers great programs for traditional freshmen, young adults and current high school students. Check out the descriptions below. For more information or help getting started at the college and selecting the right path and programs, visit the WELCOME CENTER in the Student Services Building (SSB) 4th Floor. Or, stop by the Learning Center in the Library, 1st Floor.


$0 Tuition Promise Program

First-time freshmen of any age and income who enroll full-time can have FREE TUITION for the 1st year as part of WEST's PROMISE PROGRAM.  Additionally, students earn priority registration and a support voucher for transportation, bookstore supplies, or dining in the Wildcat Cafe


1st Year Pathway

First Year Pathways is an academic program for new students interested in Business, Computer Science, Health Sciences, or general university transfer. Participating students are guaranteed full-time enrollment in the Fall and Spring in specific FYP classes. Participants also receive: Early summer preparation activities; Success Counseling; Comprehensive onboarding support to maximize access to student resources.


Summer Bootcamp

Be fit for college success by Learning How College Works, Exploring Career Options, and/or Strengthening Academic Skills. Sessions are just two weeks.


Year Up - 1 Year to a Career

Year Up has had success across the nation preparing young adults age 18-24 for positions in major corporations such as Sony, Snap, Cedars-Sinai, Kaiser, Symantec, Wells Fargo, The Getty and more. In one year, students earn college credit, participate in a paid internship, and receive intensive job preparation and mentoring.


WLAC - LMU Business Scholars

The WLAC-LMU Business Scholars Program is partnership and pathway between West Los Angeles College (WLAC) and Loyola Marymount University (LMU) and for students wishing to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (B.B.A). Students can sign-up for this program as high school seniors or early in their freshman year at West. Benefits include guaranteed admission to LMU, access to LMU events, activities, services and advisors.
