West offers both a “For-Credit” and Westside Extension career training path to prepare for a career as a Pharmacy Technician. Both paths meet the state requirements to obtain a State of California Pharmacy Technician license allowing you to work in retail pharmacies, hospitals and other healthcare settings.
The "For-College Credit" path allows students to earn basic and advanced Certificates of Achievement and/or an Associate Degree. Classes taken on this path may fulfill requirements for other Associate Degrees and/or toward university transfer requirements. Qualified students may also receive financial aid if enrolled on this path.
The Westside Extension Career Training path allows students to train to become a licensed Pharmacy Technician in 9 months, a few months faster than the “For-College Credit” program. The Westside Extension path is structured as 6 modules and is comprised of approximately 460 hours of instruction, including a 120-hour externship program. The modules allow you to start training up to 8 times a year, beginning in almost any month. Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays. No pre-requisite classes are needed for this not-for-credit, fee-based program offered through Westside Extension. Click here for more details on this program.
