Rosemary Ruiz

Hi! My name is Rosemary Ruiz; however, I go by Rose most of the time. I was born in the heart of Los Angeles, California 19 years ago. I am currently in my second year at West Los Angeles College, I started in the Fall of 2015, but I am happy to share that I plan to transfer to a four-year university in the Fall of 2017. I still don’t know which university I might attend, but so far UCI and CSULB are my top choices. My major is: Public Health. I am interested in helping people within my community to become healthier and happier individuals. My goal in the future is to provided people with the necessities to live a healthy life locally and globally. My achievements here at West is earning the education that I have gained over the years. I felt that by interacting with my professors, peers, and staff has shaped me become a more insightful individual.

As an SI Leader for Sociology 001, I am happy to say that I am able to help people with their education and share some of the knowledge that some of my professors, peers, and staff here at West have shared with me. My main goal as a SI leader is to help students succeed in their Sociology 001 class and open their sociological mind to start thinking about how their world works. I wanted to become a SI leader because I have always been an advocate in achieving a higher education, and my goal is to help students achieve a higher education by succeeding in their Sociology 001 class. My favorite thing about being an SI leader is watching students succeed inside the classroom by understanding the concepts that they are learning.
