West’s Tech Fairs include workshops on using technology in the classroom and encourage faculty-to-faculty exchanges in using technology in courses and student services.

Tech Fair workshops are currently offered during Fall and Spring semesters.  All workshops are open to faculty and staff who are able to attend.  Faculty can file for Flex Credit for attending workshops.

Tech Fair Workshop Tracks

Tech Fair workshops share effective practices, tools, tips, and techniques and are organized under the following four tracks:

  1. DIGITAL CAMPUS - Presentations in this track focus on technologies that enhance campus services, activities, or processes. Sample topics can include online systems and support services such as ETUDES-NG, ADX, Online Digital Curriculum Storage, Online Library Services, DegreeWorks, Electronic Curriculum Development System, etc.
  2. TEACHING & LEARNING - Presentations in this track focus on sharing and discussing pedagogy to improve teaching and learning. Sample topics can be in the areas of student success strategies, best practices, student learning outcomes, evaluation, pedagogy, etc.
  3. TECHNOLOGY & THE CLASSROOM – Presentations in this track focus on discussing and demonstrating instructional technology strategies, techniques, issues, and solutions.  Sample topics include course design, copyright, accessibility, computer software technology tips, student learning outcomes, etc.
  4. WEB 2.0 & SOCIAL SOFTWARE – Presentations in this track focus on tools that support the joint creation of content, user-centered design, and collaboration.  Sample topics can be in the areas of blogs, wikis, ePortfolios, GoogleDocs, Facebook, etc.
