This 85-hour West L.A. College training program provides the foundation skills and knowledge to receive AHLEI national industry Restaurant Server certification, along with a ServSafe Food Handlers certification. Learn how to provide top of the line service to your customers, the art of table service, effective up-sales techniques, how to deal with difficult customers, menu planning and food safety. Professionalism, product knowledge, service support duties, beverage prep and service and responsible alcohol service are also covered.

  • Prepares individuals to work in restaurants, dining facilities, banquet halls, hospitality, hotel, leisure and travel industries.
  • Second highest projected job demand in state thru 2022 (100,000 openings).
  • Earn American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) Certified Restaurant Server and Guest Service Gold® national certifications.
  • 85 hours of training, including 40 hours of On the Job Training.
  • Average entry wage is $13.10/hr to $14.55/hr plus tips, with great opportunities to advance.
  • Cost: $1,495, or free to those who qualify.
