What about Assessment testing?

Effective immediately, West Los Angeles College is not utilizing placement tests for English, Math, or ESL. Beginning Spring 2019, students will be eligible to enroll in transfer-level English and Math. We recommend you consider and select one of the following options:

  • Speak to your West Counselor
  • Transfer your Placement Results from an accredited College
  • Enroll in Free Math, English, ESL

Academic Solutions

Frequently Asked Questions about Assessment


The West ExpressWay is intended for students who are new to the college.  All other students should contact the Counseling Department concerning advisement for Education Planning at 310-287-4257

You do not have to complete the West ExpressWay if you 

  • Earned an AA, AS, BS, BA or higher degree
  • Are still attending High School in 11th grade or lower
  • Have on file at West LA College:
  1. A Current Student Education Plan with a Counselor
  2. Documentation of completed Assessment testing or pre-requisite completeion
  3. Completed the West LA Collge Orientation.
