Welcome!
Humanities and Fine Arts Division has played an integral role in teaching and learning and important on-campus decision making since the inauguration of West Los Angeles College some 30 years ago.
Departments
Varied Departments are centered within the HFA Division and this mixture between Art, Humanities, Music, Philosophy, and Foreign Languages offers each; breadth and knowledge, formidable challenge and opportunity to West's students. Both teaching and learning environments are enhanced and enriched owing to the inter-relatedness and interdisciplinary application of course content offered through West's Humanities and Fine Arts Division. Further vocational learning opportunities stem from HFA partnerships with CEMA, ArtAcademy@West, Middle College High School for the Arts, LAIAD, HollywoodCPR, Star Academy and West’s High School Outreach Programs.
Faculty
Faculty within the HFA Division have a long commitment to providing outstanding instruction in Visual Arts, Music, Humanities and Art History, Philosophy, and Foreign Language areas. HFA and West rely upon this dedicated staff of Artist/Educators to maintain West's fine tradition as a leader among community college art departments. This same faculty also participates in important decision making at the college. West's Fine Arts faculty not only teach, they are also practitioners and maintain active exhibition, publication, and lecture schedules.
