Green and Blue Collar Tech, Economic, and Environmental Justice Leaders Join Forces to Forecast Future Job Market

Amid the effects of climate change, leaders across a wide spectrum of industries are joining forces to forecast the future job market in the emerging green and blue-collar job sectors. Considering the planet’s dwindling resources, experts will tackle ways policy makers and educators can cultivate strategies for more training in industries that shape the future workforce. On Day 3 of West’s Climate Action Palooza, keynote speaker Dr. Robert Fofrich, UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellow, UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, will address: Why do we need green and blue jobs? Policy experts will also identify new college curriculum and training programs needed to advance sustainability efforts.

WHAT:          

West LA College is the new, green epicenter for environmental education and innovation. The inaugural Climate Action Palooza is scheduled to start on the International Day of Climate Action and will host of mix of students and industry leaders. The fun-filled event, hosted by the state’s only California Center for Climate Change Education at West, promises to merge three extraordinary days of action and advocacy with resources to help prepare students for competitive careers in the green economy. West boasts the – first and only – degree and certificate programs in Climate Change & Environmental Studies among the 116 California community colleges.
