If you are certified in Canvas you may request development, project and official course sites using this form. Responses will be forwarded to the Distance Education staff. Development/Project sites will be processed in 5 business days. Official Course sites may take longer pending verification via Academic Affairs.

Training - Canvas Certification
West is transitioning from Etudes to Canvas. All instructors must be certified and using Canvas for the Winter 2018 semester and beyond. There are multiple training opportunities being offered to instructors interested in becoming Canvas Certified. Enroll now as space is limited:
1. Canvas Certification Training at West. Complete your Canvas
Certification by participating in a three
- week, hybrid instructional program which will introduce you to the Canvas online learning management system. Free for West Facutly. Please contact Cyrus Helf at email@example.com to enroll.
3. Introduction to Canvas from Etudes is a fully online Certification course. The $150 registration fee is eligible for reimbursement through West’s Academic Senate if you haven’t already used your professional development funds yet this year.
4."Web-Enhanced" Canvas Certification training is available for On-Campus instructors. Please check out this Canvas training flyer for more information including session dates.
In addition to the options above, there is an informal, self-paced introductory teaching with Canvas course available. Contact Cyrus Helf at firstname.lastname@example.org to request access to the course.
A fantastic 2-hour course, Learn Canvas 2017, is available through lynda.com. All CA Community College employees (faculty & staff) now have free access to this fabulous learning resource. New Faculty Portal System (Peoplesoft)

Faculty can go to https://ilearn.laccd.edu and login using their Username and Password (that matches the new faculty portal Password).
Regardless of where Faculty login to go to Canvas, the login id/pw are the same.
Faculty who’ve forgotten their SIS passwords and need them reset should email their SAP Username (same as Canvas login username) and employee ID to email@example.com with a request to reset their portal password.
District Email for Faculty – New – part of the student email system – Office 365
Your LACCD Canvas account is by default connected to your district email address ending in @faculty.laccd.edu. Below is the Default / initial login id/password configuration. Important, as of Nov. 7, there have been changes to improve security that will require you to follow the instructions below even if you have accessed your laccd email previously. More information can be found here
Login id = SAP ID. Enter your SAP ID into the textbox.
Temporary password = 8@ + the month of your birthdate (MM) + the first character of your last name (capitalized) + the last 4 digits of
your SSN = Ex: 8@05L2345
The password is case sensitive.
You will be asked to reset your password at first login
West now has a license to add NetTutor to all online/hybrid/web enhanced classes! With one click your students will have access to 24/7 help from live tutors in a variety of subjects. If you want to enable NetTutor contact Cyrus Helf at firstname.lastname@example.org. This service is available for all courses - Online, Hybrid, and Web Enhanced.

NetTutor is seamlessly integrated within the learning management system, which allows students to access the service with single-sign-on functionality.
All NetTutor tutors are U.S. educated, trained tutors with prior teaching and/or tutoring experience and perform online tutoring services from a single U.S.-based facility.
All NetTutor tutors are full-time employees.
NetTutor staff use the same learning materials as students to provide support that is tailored to their needs.
NetTutor tutors are available to assist students 24/7/365.
The NetTutor Director works with each client to co-create the “rules of engagement” (ROE), which outlines how the tutors will interact with students. In this way, faculty has the opportunity to customize NetTutor to ensure it will help students succeed.
The NetTutor whiteboard interface (the WorldWideWhiteboard®) contains a broader set of subject-specific symbols and tools than that used by any other online tutoring service.
NetTutor provides online tutoring expertise in the most subject areas, including Information Technology, Nursing Programs, and Allied Health.

In some cases it is important for NetTutor to have access to your syllabus/text book. Send copies of your syllabus and/or e-books to Chuck Meyers, Regional Sales Manager for California.
In partnership with the service provider, Proctorio, the Online Education Initiative (OEI) is currently offering computer-based examination proctoring. Fully integrated into the college’s Learning Management System (LMS), Proctorio equips faculty with tools to monitor and restrict online testing environments and to review academic integrity reports directly from their grade book. Online courses with a need for in-person examination proctoring will be accommodated through a developing network of participating colleges.
