Assessment for Online, Out-of-State and International Students

Online Students & Out of State Students 

If a student believes a course taken at another college or university meets the prerequisite for a West Los Angeles College course in which he / she wishes to enroll, the student may submit a Prerequisite Clearance Request.  To submit a Prerequisite Clearance Request, please complete the linked form.

Prerequisite & Assessment Completion Form

Students in online courses only (out of close proximity to the college) are asked to provide:

  1. An official Assessment transcript of ( math and/or English) placement attached to a catalog course description defining course placement as proof of Assessment and Placement completion from a recognized accredited Community College in the U.S., or
  2. An official transcript indicating completion of or enrollment in a English or Math pre-requisite course (equivalency) attached to a catalog course description defining course placement as proof of Assessment and Placement completion from a recognized accredited Community College in the U.S.
  3. If a student has not met a prerequisite requirement, a Prerequisite Challenge Petition, should be submitted to the Department Chairperson.  To learn more about the requirements to challenge a prerequisite, please read Prerequisite Challenge Petition and complete with all documentation.

Transcripts and college catalog course descriptions must be attached to the Pre-requisite & Assessment Completion Form

International Students

Please consult with the International Student Office concerning your Assessment. Transcript evaluation services are also available through an international transcript evaluation company. Information concerning these services is available through the Counseling Office and the International Student Office.
