Time to apply!

Students can have their financial aid eligibility determined by completing one of the following applications: FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the California Dream Act Application. This assistance makes it possible for students to continue their education beyond high school, even if they and/or their family cannot meet the full cost of the college they choose to attend. These applications open October 1st every year. In order to receive priority awarding for the state issued Cal Grant funds during the subsequent Fall semester, students must complete their application by March 2nd.

Choosing the Right Financial Aid Application

To determine your eligibility for financial aid, you need to complete one of two applications based on your citizenship status:

  • FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid): If you are a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident, complete the FAFSA to qualify for federal, state, and institutional financial aid.

  • California Dream Act Application: If you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident but graduated from a high school in California, complete the California Dream Act Application to be considered for state and institutional financial aid. Learn more about the AB540 criteria requirements in the DREAM Act Application Guide.

More information on how to complete these applications can be found on our "How to Apply" page.
