Small Private School Feel - Community College Price

Thank You For Your Interest In West!

We have resumed offering services and classes in-person as well as online.

West Los Angeles College, founded in 1969, is part of the California Community College system. We are located in the hills of Culver City on 70 beautiful acres with views of Marina del Rey, West LA and Century City. The park-like setting and small class sizes give the campus a private school atmosphere. However, tuition is much more affordable than 4-year universities and private career colleges. Additionally, many students qualify for fee waivers and financial aid (grants, scholarships & low interest loans).

Assistance Getting Started

While you can move through the online application and registration process on your own, or with the help of our "how to" videos, many students would like hands-on assistance getting started. That help can be found in the college Welcome Center on the 1st floor of the Technology Learning Center (TLC) or in the Learning Center on the first floor of the Library. This is also the home of our College & Career Prep program. These non-credit courses and certificate programs help students refresh or improve skills before enrolling in credit classes. College & Career Prep also offers certificates which can prepare you for work in only a few weeks or a semester or two.

Degree & Certificate Programs

West offers over 65 Associate degree and certificate programs. Offerings include university transfer courses and career training in high-paying occupations including dental hygiene, paralegal, nursing, aviation technology, computer science, real estate and more (click for complete list).

In-Coming Freshmen: $0 Tuition Promise Program

West has several great options for in-coming Freshmen. Through West Promise Programs, first-time full-time freshmen of any age or household income can qualify for $0.00 tuition for the first year. Many students will also qualify for book vouchers, priority registration and fee waivers in the second year.

 Working Adults Welcome

College is not just for full-time students right out of high school. West offers a number of options, including 8-week and online classes, to fit the needs of busy working adults. Many older students even qualify for Fee Waivers, the $0 Tuition Promise Program and/or textbook vouchers.

Housing

Like most California community colleges, West does not offer campus housing. Local free papers and online apartment finders are also good resources to help students find local apartments and rooms for rent.

Convenient Location & Parking (map)

West is on 9000 Overland just east of Sepulveda Blvd, between Slauson and Jefferson. The campus is easily reached from the 10 fwy or 405 fwy or by the Metro or Santa Monica Blue Bus - simply connect to the Culver City Green bus at the Culver City Westfield Mall or on Venice. Unlike many campuses, West has ample parking to accommodate its student population and the semester parking pass is a low $20 or $27.

After class, travel 15 minutes West and you are at Playa del Rey or Venice Beach. Shop at the Westfield mall or get lunch and a movie in trendy Downtown Culver City. Or, take a short ride on the Culver City bus to the Metro Line and visit Downtown Los Angeles - LA Live, Staples Center, The Music Center, The Walt Disney Concert Hall and more.
