"Beyond Trends: Celebrating an Intersectional Approach to Sustainable Fashion" is a dynamic event taking place during Black Climate Week hosted by The California Center for Climate Change Education at West Los Angeles College and co-organized by Bodhisattivism, Black Girl Environmentalist, Collective Fashion Justice, Seeding Sovereignty, and the Solutions Project. This event aims to bridge environmentalism, social justice, animal rights, and mindful consumption.

Admission: Free

Location: General Classrooms (GC) Building - Room 160. GC is on the middle level of campus next to the bus stop and flag pole.

Parking: Free available in Lot #5 & #7. From Lot #5, take the stairs up to the event in the General Classrooms (GC) building. From Lot #7, walk north up the hill to GC.

Schedule:

  • 11:00 am - 12:30 pm: Food truck and mingling with local organizations' booths
  • 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm: Panel Discussion - Black women and gender expansive people in climate + fashion justice
  • 1:15 pm - 2:00 pm: Panel Discussion - Climate justice-informed fashion innovators + upcyclers
  • 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm: Film Screening - "Slay" (Documentary)
  • 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm: Yoga mindfulness grounding session with Gayatri of Bodhisattvism

This event offers an engaging platform to explore the intersection of sustainability, fashion, and social justice, featuring insightful panel discussions, a thought-provoking documentary screening, and a rejuvenating Yoga and mindfulness session.

Join us as we embark on a journey towards a more sustainable and equitable fashion industry.

Open to all community members, including students, educators, activists, business owners, and those interested in sustainable fashion and climate justice.
