Wildcats Claim 4 Western State Track & Field Conference Titles
22 Southern California qualifiers
Bakersfield, CA – Four individual conference titles highlighted the West LA College Wildcats at this past weekend’s Western State Conference Championships at Bakersfield College. In addition, West LA student-athletes delivered a combined 16 podium (top-3 finishes) and 22 Southern California individual qualifiers (12 men, 10 women) in 32 events.
Sophomore Skye Harris from University High School won women’s sprint titles in both the 100- and 200-meters, with times of 11.92 and 24.23 seconds. The sophomore from University High School is currently ranked #1 in Southern California and #2 in the State in both events. On the men’s side, freshmen, Amari Yolas brought home the WSC title in the 100-meter event in 10.63 seconds. Yolas, Palisades Charter High School, also led the men’s team to a victory in the 4x100 relay in a time of 41.06 which was the 2nd fastest time in the State.
The 3C4A Student-Athlete Achievement Award winner, Mary’Agnes Reed (Hamilton High School) placed 2nd in the shot put and 4th in the hammer. Her best throws were 10.94 meters and 31.65 meters respectively.
