Transfer Honors Program
The Transfer Honors Program provides students with a rigorous educational experience to help them successfully transition from community college to a four-year university. Benefits of joining the program include:
- Priority transfer admission to top universities such as UCLA, UC Irvine, LMU, CSU Long Beach, and many others
- Specialized advising and transfer application support
- A dedicated Honors Counselor for help with education plans and transfer questions
- Smaller Honors classes that provide more engagement with professors and other Honors students
- Honors contracts that enable students to earn Honors credits when taking non-Honors courses
- Research opportunities, campus visits, networking events with university reps, and much more!

Selection Criteria Requirements & How to Apply
For continuing West student:
- Be eligible for English 101
- Completed 12 transferable college units
- Minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher (students whose GPAs fall below 3.2 will be considered for provisional admission)
For recent High School Graduates:
- Minimum GPA 3.2 (students whose GPAs fall below 3.2 will be considered for provisional admission)
How to Apply:
To apply, complete this online application. Please note that the application will require you to submit a short application essay and upload a copy of your most recent unofficial transcripts. The essay prompt is as follows:
In approximately 250-300 words, please describe your academic experience thus far, your academic and professional goals, and why you would like to participate in the Transfer Honors Program.
To Remain in the Honors Program
Students must do the following to remain in the program:
- Complete English 101 within the first year of the program
- Maintain at least 3.2 GPA in all transfer course work
- Honors Courses must be completed w/an "A" or "B"
- Enroll in at least 1 or 2 courses w/a Honors component per semester
- Meet with Transfer Honors Counselor each semester
- Attend 2 verified Transfer Workshops during the year
- Meet with 2 University Representative on Campus during academic year
- Participate in the annual WLAC Poster Showcase each year you are in the program
To Complete the Honors Program
Students must do the following to complete the program:
- Complete a minimum of 15 Transfer Honors units at West, consisting of 5 or 6 designated Honors courses
- Complete a 200-level Math course
- Have a GPA of 3.2 or higher in all course work
- Complete and file an application for admissions to your intended transfer University when appropriate
- Complete a minimum of 15 hours of documented Volunteer / Community Service.
- Participate in the annual WLAC Poster Showcase each year you are in the program
